In 2005 SJM where contracted by Bramlys to build a new health center and retaining walls in Howarth, as this is a national heritage site the building had to conform the surrounding buildings and area. The building its self was comprised from x3 different types of stone ranging from swan cut stone, this was in three different types a 65mm a 140mm and a 215mm this was coursed from a map and had to be built as per the courses, in between each section of swan stone there was a panel of ashlar stone this was formed around the windows

The front of the building was built from a reclaimed stone again this was in x4 different sizes ranging from 2/3/4/5 inches. SJM supplied stone dressers and the stone for all of the works to this site and even re dressed stone that was due to be skipped from site, this was used to build the external dry stone walls that give character to what is a fantastic looking building. This project used new and old building styles and at first looked like it was going to look quite out of place in a village like howarth, but with the quality of workmanship and attention to detail that SJM bought to the table it has ended up being a credit to the village and one of its most recognizable buildings.

This project was completed in 2006 and the project value came in at over £235,000 and was the first contract SJM did and still to this day is up there as one of our very best.

"SJM construction brought a fresh way of thinking to this build preferring to re dress all the stone on site and re use to re build and restore the external walls this helped us to save cost against something we had originally thought would have needed new stone to be brought in. They delivered to us a amazing looking building that was delivered on time and in budget this building is a testament to there skills as builders and as a company, i would highly recommend them."
