Manchester University

In mid 2011 SJM Where appointed by ISG Regions Manchester & Manchester university to carryout the joinery & small ground works on a supply and fix basis to the refurbishment of the George Begg Building Manchester university. Due to where the building is situated this was one of the most challenging of all the projects we have worked on to date, this was largely down to there being virtually no storage space on site and the work are being spread over three floors and a roof top plant room. Add to this a program that was always going to be challenging and you had a contract that was going to provide the sturnests of tests to our management team.

One of the areas in particular that proved to be the most challenging to over come, was the 50 bespoke table end walls with data fixings these had to be made off site at our offices and unit, this was done by a skilled team of joiners that we had working around the clock to make and deliver these to site. These then had to be carried by hand up to the 2nd floor and fixed into place this was done over the final weekend of the contract again SJM worked around the clock and with time to spare ended up pulling what was thought to be a unachievable program (by all involved) back and delivering this project on time. The client & site management where overwhelmed be the commitment and hard work shown by SJM please take a look at thier comments below, Contract value £82,000

"We would just like to take this opportunity to thank you and your operatives for the commitment you have given to this contract to enable the Cluster Floor to be completed on time. The client is highly delighted and as you can see from the clients and project manager’s comments it has not gone unnoticed and has been greatly appreciated.
Please pass this onto your teams as they have sacrificed many an evening and weekends and deserve the credit.
